The most misunderstood of all medical professionals in the United States are Chiropractors. Let’s just be honest: Medical Doctors don’t understand them. The General Public doesn’t understand them. Sometimes, even the people that work in a Chiropractor’s offices don’t understand them.

I’m here to tell you, there’s good reason for that. There are a few Secrets that a Chiropractor will never tell you. They’ll give you a generic (untrue!) response to your question, but they’ll never tell you the real answer. These secrets have been heavily guarded in the “Chiro Community”, and very few people outside of their group know about this stuff…..until now

1) The Real Reason You’re Not Supposed to “Pop” your own Neck

What They Tell You: Because It’s Dangerous and that you could do Serious Damage.

Why They Tell You That: It’s Half of the Actual Answer, but the real answer is much harder to explain and they don’t think they can hold your attention long enough (Seriously!).

The Secret, Real Answer: Here comes the Science… Your neck is essentially made up of 7 bones. Between each of those bones is a joint. When one of those joints gets “stuck” out of place, it actually makes it (nearly) impossible for you to move that particular joint under your own power.

I know what you’re thinking…

“But when I do crack my neck, it feels so much better! I must have fixed it”
Have you ever noticed that the pain usually comes back after a few minutes?

Here’s why: Your body actually blocks those “achy” pain signals when you move any joint.

You don’t have to move the “joint that was locked up” to get that temporary “pain block”. The pain coming back is a good signal that you didn’t move the right area. (You probably moved an area that was “ok” to begin with!)
Oh and, by the way, “Its also very Dangerous to Pop your Own Neck!!!“

2) The Real Reason You’re Supposed to Come in At Least Once A Month

What They Tell You: It’s essential to maintain a Healthy Spine.

Why They Tell You That: It’s the Short, Easy Answer (and it’s true)

The Secret, Real Answer: I’m actually giving away too much with this one, but here we go. Your Chiropractor would much rather you come in and get regular care to your spine, then you wait, and let things get really bad. Most Chiropractic patients don’t come in on the regular schedule that they should and because of it their problems get progressively worse.

I’ve seen it countless times. A patient lets an injury go because they think it’s

going to get better on it’s own. The pain may go away (because your body compensates),but the injury just gets worse and worse. Then one day the patient comes in and says, “I just bent over to pick something up and now I can barely move.” It wasn’t the “bending over”… It was the injury from 4 months ago that finally got the best of them.

Now you need the “3 X a week for a month” kind of care when you probably could have fixed the problem with a treatment or two if you’d come in on a regular, once a month, schedule. Sure…More money to the Chiropractor now…But it Drives them crazy!

3) They Get Really Mad When You Don’t Follow Through With Care

What They Tell You: “Well, its going to take us another few visits to get rid of this now”

Why They Tell You That: The line above is your Chiro’s best effort at not strangling you for being so stupid.

The Real, Secret Answer: For the same reason that you’re supposed to finish your drug prescription, even after you feel better, your supposed to finish your Chiropractic treatment plan. This one drives all doctors crazy. Pain is an indication that something is wrong. When the pain is gone, however, it does not necessarily mean that the problem is.

You keep taking your prescribed medicine after the symptoms go away to make sure that you get every last bit of the problem taken care off….and it’s the same thing with your Chiropractic Treatment. Don’t let “Pain” (or the absence of it) fool you. That’s a recipe for getting sick again or re-injuring yourself.

4) They Hate Their “Kooky/Radical” Peers

What They Tell You: When you tell them something silly another Chiropractor did, they say something like, “There are alot of different kinds of Chiropractic Treatment and each has it’s strengths.”

Why They Tell You That: A simple life rule: “Real Professionals Don’t Speak Badly of Other Professionals. They let their work speak for itself”

The Real, Secret Answer: Just like in any field, Chiropractic has it’s share of “NutJobs”. It drives Chiropractors crazy when they have a fellow Chiro do something stupid. Today’s Chiropractors are trained to be “evidence based practitioners”. When they hear about some “voodoo” or “publicity stunt” that another Chiro is doing to get attention, it makes them “Crazy”!

Chiropractic is a Science/Art. It is not a Sideshow.
But there are some Chiropractors who forget this.

5) 70% of their Patients Problems are “Self Imposed“

No bullet points here… Just a simple truth:
If you did what your doctor told you, you would probably put them out of business.
That’s true for most health professions. The sad truth is that most of the problems people face are “of their own making”.

If you ate the way your doctor suggested, you wouldn’t feel bad all the time.
If you exercised the way that you were supposed to, you would feel better all the time.
If you exercised your mind the way you’re supposed to, you would feel better…all the time.

I would bet that over 70% of all ailments are “self-imposed”, but I would love to hear what people think about this one. I would especially love to hear a “patient’s” point of view on this.
