Project: Contact an A-List Celebrity

Just Crazy Enough to Work

I’m taking a page out of my latest “Books That Rock” pick, “The 4-Hour Workweek” by Tim Ferris.

One of the exercises in the book (which deals with getting over the word “impossible”) is to contact a very high profile celebrity and ask them a question.

The point of this is to start to get rid of the idea that you can’t do things. How many times a day is a project completely destroyed by these thoughts: “I can’t”, “That’s Impossible”, or “That’s a Waste of Time”?

Most of us feel like certain things are out of our reach because we weren’t born into a certain family or because we’re not good looking, or because we don’t have the monetary backing that others have. The point that Tim’s Book makes…and that I’m trying to make :) ….. is that you need to stop saying that things are too hard… and start using the fact that others think certain things are too hard to your advantage.

The mere thought of “impossible” is enough to narrow your competition.

:THE PROJECT:

So my so-called “impossible project” is to contact at least one of five A-List Celebrities.

The cool part….You get to help me pick who we’re going to try and contact.

Post your suggestions in the Comments Sections below, Facebook me at facebook.com/drbenadkins, or twitter me at @benadkins.

I’ll post my progress as we go.
This is going to be fun!

  • Mine would be Angelia Jolie, Yes she's a famous actress, but I would like to know if she really is this wonderful Philanthropist and Humanitarian that she "Appears" to be in the public eyes ( Most of the time) or is that just another "part" she plays? And if she really is, then How did she overcome all her old demons and trouble, and become the person that she is today?

    Great post!

I'd want to ask Christina Aguilera how she decides where to vacation.

On a side notes, Kurt is really nice - I met him on a flight from LA to St. Louis back when he was the Rams QB. We talked for a while about Camp Barnabas. And Jennifer used to hang out at the Studio City Farmer's market on Sunday mornings. She lived in that area because I used to see her all the time!

That's another good one Monica! That's pretty cool that you met Kurt! I'm a little jealous that you got to see JLove so much. "Can't Hardly Wait" was a favorite flick of mine back in the day :)
  • Monica
Take a trip - you see LOTS of celebs in LA if you know where to go. Especially TV people because they are all filming right now and they don't call it Studio City for nothing. :)
  • Ben, you think we could talk the spouses into a BIG LA Trip, we'd even take the kids to Disney!!! lol
  • Great post...I have to get that book. Celebrity I would contact? Hmmm, I guess I would say Julia Roberts...too cool and down to earth.
  • benadkins
Julia is totally a cool cat. I'll put her in the possibles list...
We'll be announcing the top 5 in a week....and then we'll get started contacting them....

    Thanks for the input storytellerdoc!

    Keifer Sutherland, ( Jack Bauer)
  • benadkins
Keifer is a really good suggestion. That goes to the top of the list. Some great suggestions that we got via facebook were John Mayer, Kurt Warner, and Jimmy Fallon.
  • benadkins
And just because you don't consider Jennifer Love Hewitt an A-Lister....doesn't mean that I don't :)
    That's why we're taking suggestions :)
