God's Masterpieces

General Health

It’s 6 PM.

I had just finished a long day of class and was dreading the next part of my day. I walked from the main set of classrooms into a room roughly the length of a basketball court. From one end of the room to the other were metal tables with large, zipped up, plastic bags on them. What might be most people’s nightmare was about to become my reality.

It’s dark outside……I’m alone….and I’m about to spend the next 2 hours of my life with over 30 human cadavers.

I walk in, pull out a scalpal, and start to cut on “my” cadaver.

All of a sudden…the dread leaves my mind. As I’m learning more about what made “my cadaver” tick, a sense of  “calm” washes over me. I feel, for a moment, as if God is looking right at me.

One of the most humbling things that happened back when I working my butt off in school to become a Chiropractor was my Gross Anatomy Class. We disected human cadavers in the quest to learn more about how the human body worked.

On more than one occasion I thought to myself how complicated putting a “life” together is and how easy it is to take a “life” apart. If there was any question about the existence of God before I took Gross Anatomy, then it was answered there. The level of complexity that something simple like “walking” involves is simply astounding. I know that we all view God a little differently, but if you’ve ever looked at a human heart and held it in your hand then you know that God is indeed an artist.

Over the next few weeks I want to focus on some of the more amazing aspects of the Human Body. I promise I won’t get all “textbooky”. I just want to show you some amazing things about “how you work” that you may have never realized.

More coming very soon.
